Lubbock Central Appraisal District - Total Value of Parcels

Despite being outside of the Texas Triangle of Austin, DFW, and Houston, Lubbock is still one of the most valuable counties in the state, totaling $38.92 billion in 2024. Property values have doubled in the past decade thanks to aggressive valuation by the Lubbock Central Appraisal District (LCAD), though the county has certainly become an economic powerhouse. Find the true value of your home or business when you join O’Connor’s Property Tax Protection Program™ today. There is no cost to join, and you will only be charged if we can lower your taxes. LCAD Tax Parcels

Whether it is economic growth, increased demand, or overappraisal by LCAD, property values are rising across Lubbock County. Taxpayers do have some options when it comes to lowering these values, including exemptions and property tax protests. While exemptions are commonplace, appeals are well on their way to becoming just another part of the appraisal and taxation process.

For over 50 years, O’Connor has represented Texans in their quest for fair property tax reduction. As one of the largest firms in the nation, O’Connor wields both national resources and local expertise, which provides an unbeatable one-two punch that can overcome whatever LCAD uses to defend its values.

LCAD Total Number of Parcels in District

Like many things in Texas, Lubbock County is quite large and is made up of 169,500 parcels. Parcels are the standard measurement for real property in Texas. This makes Lubbock one of the larger counties. Unlike many appraisal districts, LCAD was able to appraise every single parcel in 2024, quite the feat for a small organization covering a large area. This certainly requires techniques, such as mass appraisals, that do not take many factors into account. This leaves many of these appraisals wide-open for appeals.

Total Market Value for All Property

When they were all added together, the parcels of Lubbock County managed to total $38.92 billion. This means that each parcel translates into around $229,616.52 in value. While not the overpriced value seen in the likes of Travis or Collin counties, this was still an impressive number, which most counties cannot match.

$22.26 billion of the value was created by single family homes, which was a new record for residential real estate. In second place were commercial properties with $8.23 billion. Oil and gas managed to reach $5.63 billion, while apartments accounted for $2.90 billion. With the exception of apartments, all of these totals were record highs. In general, property value has been growing steadily every year for the past decade.
